One of the issues I’ve found coping with crohns, is while I like to eat, I’m not always able to - for various reasons. At one point in time last year, during my pre-diagnosis stage, I was unable to eat anything - living on Ensure. I perused cookbooks and cooking shows (Food Network was one of my best friends at night, particularly $40 a Day with Rachel Ray). Only looking, dreaming (and drooling) of when I could eat that, and wouldn’t that be tasty.
I do like to visit places like AllRecipes.com -or just google it- when I’m looking for something specific.
I’ve been to this particular site a few times before, but never really took the time to look around. I did last night and boy have I been missing out. And while I’m certain this former city girl turned pioneer woman doesn’t need any help from me to plug her site, link-backs and good reviews are always nice, right? But it’s not even about that… Pioneer Woman is a cook after my own heart… she isn’t cooking to be green, or following the latest health trends.. she’s cooking to please her cowboys, and tossing in goodness where she is able too. To know what I mean, read About her Cooking. I know I”ll be reading her recipes to find something to make to eat - and not so much the other way around (looking for a specific recipe, unless I know I’ve already seen it there).
One of the things I really like about The Pioneer Woman is she cooks using easily obtainable ingredients… you know you can run into your local grocery store and get the stuff you need. No need to worry about her ingredients being elusive. Thank you! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that!!!
Somewhere along my search yesterday, I found another site I enjoyed and knew I didn’t want to lose this one either. FoodGawker - On this site, you can submit a recipe from your own blog - and foodgawker displays the image, and links back to the submitters site. The first picture I saw was a banana fried in a springroll, covered in cinnamon sugar and caramel sauce.. when I went back tonight, I wanted to know how easy it was to find that recipe again… I searched for banana and there it is.. oh yummmy! And another recipe for bananas and chocolate on the bbq.. oh please.. I’m not even a big banana eater, but now… drooool. You may not be able to find everything you are looking for, but looking at the pictures, you are sure to find something that looks tasty!
Check ‘em out… it’s worth your time.
